A few weeks ago, I heard something I don't think I have ever heard in such a way. In so many words:
Fear stems from a lack of believing that God is good.
It is true, and it is frighteningly true when you really think about it.
"Our Lord's confidence in God, and in what God's grace could do for anyone, was so perfect that he never despaired, never giving up hope for any person."
-Oswald Chambers, My Utmost For His Highest
WOW!
"The men where you live," said the little prince, "raised 5000 roses in the same garden-and they do not find in it what they are looking for." "They do not find it," I replied, "And yet what they are looking for can be found in one single rose or in a little water." "Yes, that is true," I said and the little prince added: "But the eyes are blind. One must look with the heart..."
-Antoine de Saint-Expuery, The Little Prince
"I fear nothing. I am free."
-Nios Kazantzakis
Here's to more looking at life with my heart, and embracing in everything the truth that God is good. Fear does steal our freedom.
If there was a movie like It's a Wonderful Life with a view of my life thus far and what things would look like if I had no fear and completely and utterly lived every day believing that I could let go and let God work as He wants to, in every way, to the maximum in every area of my life, I have a feeling I would be overwhelmed with sorrow.
